Next stop was Alltex Electronics. Seems that they stopped carrying the “cool stuff” like pins and connectors quite some time ago. So off to Fry’s, pretty convinced they were not going to have anything either, since they are almost always “out of stock at the moment”. Ha, shows you what I know. Not only did they have pins but they had the right size. .062″ F fit perfectly. So $2.09 and $20 for gas later, we head off to lunch (to kill more time and stay cool).
While at lunch I call Oncor, our electric distribution company to see if there is an estimate as to when power will be back. Phone call says maybe around 19:00. Great. Drop the kids off at the movie theater and Sharon and I go by the house, just in case power is on. No luck so I burn up some of my Marriott points to get a room for the night.
Get to the room and poor Sharon is exhausted and falls right asleep. I get onto Oncor’s web site and check status. Outage map says that our neighborhood doesn’t have an outage. Couple of streets over does and it won’t be until 10pm for one area, 10pm the next day for the other. yeah. Later I check and it says 22:00 then a few hours later midnight. Peachy. We go grab a quick bite at “happy hour” in the Residence Inn.
Get back into the room about an hour later and one of the kids calls to say the power is back on. So we leave the room to go back home since I have to get up and O-dark-thirty for a class which starts at 0800 instead of the normal 0900 and all is right with the world. For the moment.
